Helen Macallan Counselling Psychologist in South West London

About me

Some people like to know more about the training and experience of their therapist.

Before training as a therapist I worked for many years in the field of business and management so have a good grasp of organizational issues and the pressures of work in a high stress environment.

I then trained at Roehampton University as a Counselling Psychologist and Psychotherapist. I have Chartered status from the British Psychological Society and am registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health Professions Council.

I have completed specialist training with Merton Bereavement Service and with the Cancer Counselling Trust.

My experience includes many years in primary care, in the voluntary sector, in Merton Bereavement service and at the Royal Marsden Hospital. I also have extensive experience as a lecturer in counselling and psychotherapy.

I would describe my orientation as integrative. I am informed by psychodynamic thinking but can also work using either a cognitive behavioral or a person centered approach. My way of working would depend on you, the client, and what your needs and issues were.
